Individuals in correctional settings are disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS, with higher rates of infection and limited access to prevention, testing, and treatment services. Addressing HIV/AIDS in correctional settings requires comprehensive strategies that prioritize access to care and support, ensure continuity of treatment upon release, and address the underlying social determinants of health that contribute to vulnerability to HIV/AIDS. By implementing evidence-based interventions, promoting harm reduction strategies, and respecting the rights and dignity of incarcerated individuals, we can improve health outcomes and reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in correctional settings and beyond.
