Gender inequality continues to fuel the HIV epidemic, with women and girls disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS due to factors such as economic dependence, lack of access to education and healthcare, and gender-based violence. To address this disparity, we must prioritize gender equality and women’s empowerment in the HIV response, ensuring that women and girls have the knowledge, resources, and agency to protect themselves from HIV transmission, access treatment and care, and participate fully in decision-making processes that affect their lives.
